Tree Lighting
Mature trees are the most underused asset on most properties.
A 60-year-old oak with no lighting disappears at sunset. The same tree, properly uplit and moonlit from above, becomes the centerpiece of the entire property. Tree lighting is the highest-impact, most-overlooked move in landscape lighting — and the technique that separates a designed system from a builder's package.
Three techniques, one cohesive scene
- 01 Uplighting. Tight-beam fixtures at the base wash the trunk and reveal canopy structure. The drama move.
- 02 Moonlighting (downlighting). Fixtures mounted high in the canopy cast natural-looking dappled shadows on the ground. The most realistic effect in landscape lighting.
- 03 Cross-lighting. Two fixtures on opposite sides of a tree create three-dimensional depth — no flat silhouettes.
Tree-safe mounting
We use stainless steel arborist-approved mounts that allow the tree to grow without girdling. Our fixtures are repositioned on a service schedule as the tree expands. We never use lag bolts, never wrap wire around branches, and never use mounts that constrict growth.
Best for
Mature oaks, maples, beeches, magnolias, japanese maples, dogwoods, and any specimen tree worth showcasing. Also: pergolas, gazebos, and architectural trellises.
Color & temperature
2700K warm white for traditional aesthetics. Tunable-white options for clients who want to shift toward cooler 3000K in summer foliage and warmer 2400K in winter.
Service plan
Tree-mounted fixtures need re-aiming as canopies grow. Our annual service plan keeps everything calibrated. Most "tree lights stopped working" issues are simply trees that grew past their fixtures.
